This new, downloadable handbook created by a self-employed professional FOR self-employed professionals reveals how to put together a program that meets your health care needs without depleting your wallet.
As a self-employed professional myself, I've struggled, just like you, to pay the bills each month. I know how out-of-reach health insurance can be. I also know that ONE illness or injury can completely wipe you out.
I learned that the hard way. Back in the early 1990s, I got environmental poisoning from the company that I worked for. Even though I had insurance at the time PLUS disability coverage, the medical bills piled up. THEN my employer discontinued my health insurance and I was on my own. Luckily for me, the hospital was incredibly understanding and merciful. Since my condition was very rare, they used it as a teaching case study and wrote off more than $100,000 in bills!
Working for yourself is the ultimate expression of freedom—that's what America is all about—but along with that freedom comes the responsibility to take care of yourself.
I went without insurance—or even health care—for years because I thought I couldn't afford it. Then I realized something stunning:
You MUST insure your home.
Your car. And your business.
You make sure that your computer is covered.
And you even back up your work.
Why in the world would you NOT cover yourself?
That's when I got serious about making sure that my HEALTH was covered too. After being in business for myself for 8 years, I finally decided it was time to be more responsible. So I joined one of those “associations” for self-employed people that promised “health care coverage” among tons of other useless benefits (like tickets to some beer garden in Canada). THAT ended in a class-action lawsuit for fraud.
What I learned is that there's a lot of misinformation out there about heath insurance—plus a lot of dishonest people who are willing to take your money!
Today—in addition to running my own business—I lead a collaborative networking group of self-employed creative professionals (oddly enough called Self-Employed Creative Professionals!). So I know—up close and personal—how important it is for people like us to have at least some kind of health care program. As an association, we tried to get a group insurance policy to cover us, but no luck. Self-employed people are “individuals”, therefore have to have individual plans.
The answer to this dilemma is the
Health Care Handbook
for Self-Employed Professionals
I spent a whole year researching affordable, workable health care coverage that would fit the circumstances and budgets of self-employed professionals. I interviewed insurance experts, benefits coordinators, health savings account directors and group discount plan providers.
Do you know what I found out?
We can get our needs covered, protect our health and livelihoods and maybe (just maybe) set some money aside for our retirements—all at the same time! But you've got to know the secrets and how to work the system—or better yet—make the system work for YOU!
In the Health Care Handbook for Self-Employed Professionals, I share these secrets with you. I even introduce you to some other self-employed professionals who are making it work for them too.
In this information packed, downloadable handbook, you'll learn:

As you know, the United States lags behind most of the developed world in how it provides health care to its citizens.
Here are some sobering statistics:
- The United States has the most expensive health care system in the world ($1.9 trillion in 2006), yet at least 46 million Americans are uninsured.
- 8.3 million children under the age of 18 had no health care coverage in 2005.
- 32.7% of Hispanics were uninsured in 2005 compared to 15.9% of the U.S. population.
- Young adults, 18-24 years of age, are more likely to be uninsured compared to older adults and children.
- More than a third of all Americans (around 108 million people) do not have any dental insurance.
Here are some more scary financial facts:
- In 2006, a typical family spent about $11,481 for health insurance coverage (no services, just coverage!) .
- Health insurance premiums have increased by about 60% since 2001.
- Health insurance premiums are rising at 6%-9% annually. This is higher than the rate of inflation and wage increases.
- Deductibles for PPO/in-network rose sharply between 2000 and 2007. Among firms with fewer than 200 employees, deductibles increased 317%!
- Deductibles for family insurance coverage increased from $175 in 2000 to $710 in 2006.
- Between 1997 and 2003, median out-of-pocket spending increased by $1,116—a 50% increase—while median individual income rose by just 15%.
- 59% of the uninsured who suffer from serious, chronic conditions regularly skip doses of their medicines—or do not fill their prescriptions at all—due to exorbitant costs.
- 4 in 10 Medicare beneficiaries spent at least one-fifth of their income on health care in 2003.
Even people who don't work for themselves are
feeling the crunch:
- The number of firms offering health insurance benefits decreased from 69% in 2000 to 59% in 2006.
- 48% of uninsured workers don’t have coverage because it’s not offered by
their employers.

Sounds a little bleak, doesn't it?
Unfortunately, when you talk to an insurance broker, you get their spin on their products. Face it! Insurance agents only make a living on the commission they get from selling you their insurance plans. Your needs are not a priority to them.
Since they can only sell you their products, they're not interested in giving you ALL the information that you need to make the RIGHT decision for you.
Here's the good news:
You're independent!
That means you take control of your own circumstances,
get the information you need,
and make smart choices based on that information.
A great place to start is with the Health Care Handbook for Self-Employed Professionals! In this new downloadable book, I give you the information that you need to sort through all the hype and the bad news.
The Health Care Handbook for Self-Employed Professionals is THE resource for ALL of the information that you need to choose the type and level of coverage that meets your individual circumstances.

To ensure your health, you need to know a lot more. Of course, you realize how important it is to do everything you can to keep yourself fit. But, lots of other things can help, too.
In the Health Care Handbook for Self-Employed Professionals, I've covered the bases for you. In addition to insurance plans, I also reveal:
